The Village of Saint-Denis de Vaux
   
The Saint-Denis de Vaux village possesses a XIXth century church in perfect condition.

   

The Bishop's Palace which dates back to the XIIIrd century, is to be found in the village.




Castles in South Burgundy
   
At a short distance away from Saint-Denis de Vaux, in Mellecey, the château de Germolles, the holiday home of Dukes of Burgundy, was built by Philippe le Hardi and Marguerite of Flanders, with the help of the artists from the "Burgundy School".

The tower and the entrance portch and the three storied main building with its rafters, its guards room under the lancet arch, overexposed chapels, oratory and heraldic frescos, monumental sculptured fire places, and a collection of pavements...

This castle is a pure marvel and the only one belonging to the Burgundy Dukes which is still in existance in France.

The first foundation of St Bernard (1113), the Abbaye of la Ferté was one of the most important cistercian abbeys.

The Church has disappeared but the magnificient Abbey Church Palace has remained intact.

The interior decor evokes the art of living of the XVIIIrd century : very wide staircases, wooded and sculptured salons, tapistries, original pictures and furnitures.


The Chateau de Sully, has "the most beautiful castle court in France", and is situated between Autun and Beaune.

It's a Renaissance Residence surrounded by a moat.

A the moment this Castle is a private Residence in which the Duke and the Duchess of Magenta, descendants of the Dukes of Burgundy, live.

The Burgundy Wine Road
   
The Wine Road isn't to be missed : it allows you to conciliate the discovery of extraordinary sites with visits to wine cellars.

The village of Saint-Denis de Vaux is situated on the Burgundy Wine Road.
   


The Green Itinery
   

The Green Itinery (Scenic Road), which goes through the department of the Saône et Loire from the North to the South, has been conceived for people keen on trecking, bike riding, roller skating, elephant or other, and in all cases without being bothered by motor vehicles !

One of the most attractive itinery is the one which links Cluny with Givry.
This Itinery is 44 km long and goes through 22 typical Burgundy villages.

13 different signposted circuits are proposed, all of which are 15 to 45 km long.
